iOBE Workshop @ Health Sciences

Monday, March 18, 2019

Many thanks to the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, for inviting me to run a half-day workshop on Monday, 18/3/2019. Heartfelt thanks especially to Dr. Fahmi Lim, Prof. Wan Rosli, Dr. Chang and their organizing team for the great hospitality shown while I was there. Thanks also to all the lecturers who attended my workshop.

The workshop, titled "OBE Assessment: How to do it better?", was divided into two sessions:

Session 1: Introduction (9.00 - 10.30 am)
  • Part 1: What do we have to do?
  • Part 2: What are the challenges?
This session introduced the topic of student assessment in OBE, in particular the assessment of student and program outcomes. The session aimed to familiarize the participants with the rationale, techniques, issues, and challenges in computing these outcomes.

Session 2: Implementation (11.00 am - 12.30 pm)
  • Part 3: How do we overcome them?
  • Part 4: How do we implement the solution?
This session offered a solution using a software called iOBE (designed and developed by the speaker) to automate the computation of assessment data efficiently. Techniques to produce input files, run iOBE, interpret results, and manage assessment data at the course and program levels were described and explained.

Receiving the Certificate of Appreciation from Prof. Wan Rosli
